well he prolly got 2 turns and about 3/4 of the third turn then because theres no 2:00 gears ever been put in a mustang

youre supposed to turn thw WHEEL 1 time and how ever many turns the shaft makes in that 1 turn is how you figure it out. like if you have 3:73 it will turn 3 and 3/4 of a turn with one complete wheel turn. 3:08 gears will make about 3 turns with one turn of the wheel. 3:55=3 1/2 turns, 2:73= 2 3/4 turns.

ya, thats how i did it. So i guess i did it right. I guess it could be 2:73 but it didnt even go around that many times and the dealer i bought it from told me it had gears. The gears are super short. I have to constantly shift. I dk what to do now

RE: whats up with my gears?
I had this same problem the first time i tried to find out my gears. By any chance did you only have one back wheel off the ground? because thats what i did and i was getting a 1:1 ratio about.. but then i lifted both up and it was alot different and i figured out i had 2.73 gears.. Hope this helps

RE: whats up with my gears?
i wish. Nope i had the whole rear end up in the air on jack stands. Is there any aftermarket gears that would be like that? I dont really know too much about gears. My gears are so short, what does that mean exactly?

RE: whats up with my gears?
Short gears would be numerically higher, like 4.10's. You should try it agian. I know this will sound stupid, but make sure you rotate them forward, not reverse. I wasn't paying attention (rotating backwards) and couldn't figure out why it wasn't adding up. Derrrrr.[sm=headbang.gif]

RE: whats up with my gears?
heres a simple one for you...
get out on the highway and look at your rpms and speed
bring the car to 80 mph and take a look at your tach
2200 rpms is 3.08
2500 rpms is 3.55
2650 rpms is 3.73
if you are under 2200 rpms then youve got 2.73s, between 2200 and 2500 and youve got 3.27s and any higher than 2650 (like 2800) and youve got 4.10s
