RE: Where are the NEGATIVES???
as long as your factory plugs are there, you should try it when it's gone,

Fords have a screwy wiring set up, get the adaptor plug. It plugs into you factory plugs, then you splice it into you stereo plug. It will be labled on what wire is what...easy and fast...only way to go anytime, anycar. The best part about it is then you can pull it out and plug it into any other mustang and some other ford without doing anything else.

RE: Where are the NEGATIVES???
I could be wrong but i think ford put a small amplifier in the cars. I know my 86 had one it's in the center of the dash. Your negatvies could all run off from there. I've been wiring stereos in my mustangs for a long time and thats the only thing that would make sense to me. I dunno about just a single wire though cuz i always ran amps and stuff. Another way to see if it is going through an amb is to get a wiring diagram, this will usually show you. Does your car have a ground loop noise? (A ground loop has kind of a whining noise coming out of our speakers while driving) If it does this could be a sign of a factory amp. But may not be as noticable without running it through an aftermarket amp.
