I have an '87 GT, with a AOD. I got in a small fender bender on the front corner of the passenger side awhile back and ever since I've replaced the tranny 3 times. The trans. doesn't go complety out I usely lose OD and reverse. There is metal flakes in the fluid. I was wondering if the wreck had something to do with my tranny problems or if there was some other cause of my problems? Any advice or opinons to help me diagnos my dilema would be great, thanks.

this is a strange one! you saying you put in 3 trannies and each one failed the same way? are you re-using the same converter? if yes, did you drain all the old fluid out of it and flush it out good. same thing goes for the trans cooler too. once you get metal flakes in the oil pan, everything has to be cleaned out throughly or else you just contaminate the next tranny with trash from the last one. OD and reverse are on two different shafts in the tranny, so I don't see how you can lose both and still have 1st gear.
