Default sd motor/ mas motor?

I was talking to this guy about getting another motor for my stang. He asked if I was still running a sd motor. I said yes then asked him why. He said that a MASS AIR motor wouldn't work in a SD car. I didn't think there was a difference in the two motors other than the cars wiring and the fact that 89 and newer have mass air meter. Will I have any problems putting a motor from a 93 into an 88?
