Default coil replacement

What do you recommend when replacing the stock coil. I have an MSD ingition system w/boost retard for the s trim. the coil was never replaced and the car is dying at idle and while i'm cruising at times due to overheating. I think it's the coil since it's stock, and my distributor is ford with the motorsport wires........please let me know and when changing it, is it as easy as removing the pos/neg wires and just swapping it out, do i need to disconnect the battery when doing this?

Use the MSD replacement TFI coil. No you don't have to remove the batt cables. Just plug and unplug the connectors when you swap coils, it's that easy.
