Please help with a fuel problem
Hey, we have a 91 GT conv. 5spd and its not getting any fuel. . ! Basically what happened is I turned the car off. . And then it just wouldn't start. It would turn over. It was getting spark. So I took apart the intake and sprayed some fuel into the throttle body and it ran for a second then stalled. So, obviously its a fuel delivery problem.
So far I have replaced the fuel filter and fuel pump hoping that would help. . No luck. I replaced the pump even though I heard it working when the key was turned over. Hoped maybe it was weak er somethin. Now the pump doesn't even work unless I tap on the relay thats located under the drivers seat. Then I can hear it turn on. So, maybe the relay is bad? But I try to start it while I hear the pump running and still nothing.
So, maybe its the pump relay? I don't know to be honest. I'm not big on Mustangs. My parents are. And I'm trying to fix it for them.
So, any advice/help?
Oh, I did some searching and I found a diagram. And according to it there is another relay located near the mass air sensor. I looked at it and the plug is melted and burnt? Not the relay, but the plug thats connected to the wiring harness. So, maybe that could be another problem?
Thanks in advance,
NashCar

RE: Please help with a fuel problem
I had the no crank problem with mine at one time, but my problem was dirt in one of my injectors. I cleaned them and it worked fine. Now your relay problem might just be like you said, The Relay. Try to replace it and that faulty wire/plug.

RE: Please help with a fuel problem
i dont know anything about fuel injection, but..
check to see if they are pulsing,
also..it could be your computer, just because your fuel pump is running, doesnt mean the comp is telling the injectors to pulse.
hooking up a battery up backwards will do it everytime, or welding on your car with the battery cables hooked up without a good ground. it will fry your computer.
try to barrow a computer from a running mustang and see if that fixes it.
good luck
