Should I...
I'm trying to decide whether or not to try to lower my oil consumption by using some product to clean my piston rings and ring lands. Once I did a Marvel Mystery Oil piston-soak on an old racebike that had been ridden so gently that everything was carboned up, and it worked. The oil consumption nearly disappeared. Then, another time, I did the same thing on another bike (that I think was abused), and it made the oil consumption worse. My questions are:
1. Do these engines have a propensity for carboned-up rings and lands?
2. Has anyone been successful using products like Seafoam and MMO to lower oil consumption?
Thanks again.

RE: Should I...
Actually, there is a leak from somewhere down low; it just doesn't seem like that could account for such oil loss. It's either my rear main seal, or my rear oil drain bolt leaking. Haven't been under there in a while. At any rate, it just leaves a drip or two in the garage every night. The thing is, I think it is burning most of it for two reasons: 1. There is soot in my tailpipes, and 2. My thermactor crossover pipe was clogged with soot/carbon. What do you think?

might be a little rich, and washes some oil away with the burn.....it might drip more when running?.
