Default MSD Ignition

I just installed an MSD-6AL and a 2 step module. When I push my button to ingage the module and then push the gas pedal it backfires. It only does this if I push the gas over half way. If I just push it a little less then half it does fine, but it bogs down when I let go of the button. Anybody have any ideas what's going on with this thing?

What button are you talking about? Sounds like you must of crossed your wires or one of the wires are loose

I bought this switch : http://store.summitracing.com/partde...p?part=SBR-LLK
This module : http://store.summitracing.com/partde...5&autoview=sku
and this adjustable limiter : http://store.summitracing.com/partde...?part=MSD-8677

It works perfectly as long as I don't floor it. I push the button and the red light comes on and the revlimiter works.

It can be used for stageing at the light. You push the button and it switches between rev limits.

I contacted MSD about this. This is what they said
Popping or back firing out of the exhaust is normal. You have to
remember that you will have full fuel load being dumped out of a
cylinder that did not fire which is how the limiter works. That fuel
load gores into a hot exhaust and a pop or back fire occurs. This is
completely normal when on the limiter. When you go wide open throttle
does the car leave correctly?

Thanks,

MSD tech
I have never heard a drag car at the strip backfire while stageing. Maybe I'm just stupid when it comes to ignition.
