Leondardtown, MD? Huh, I lived in Waldorf and Crofton, MD for a few years of my childhood - not all that far away. Good ol' Winchester, VA is my current residence though, ever heard of it?

Someone want to explain why a harmonic balancer could be off? Not bolted on the right position? What? [sm=dontgetit.gif]

A harmonic balancer can be bolted up ONLY 1 way, its keyed. There is a ring of rubber between the out side ring and the part that bolts to the crank. When this rubber gets too hot or someone cranks on it it can turn on the rubber and not go back to the original position. I run my car @ 13 degrees, my old '79 flat tappet motor I ran @ 5 ATDC. LOL! For some reason it would run right at the factory setting, thinkin maybe my cam was off a tooth.

Most of the times the rubber isolator which is between both rings dampens the rotational vibrations and over time dry rots and looses its tension and allows the outer ring to turn, obviously the inner ring wont turn since its bolted to the crank and held with a key

My balancer spun.....replaced it with a FRPP Balancer.....if this is the same case as yours....a timing light is useless....not only that, but if it serpates completely...say goodbye to your rad, timing cover...anything else it hits....those balancers are not LIGHT!!...get it checked out before it cost more money!!!!!

Yeah it would. I usually head up to Mason Dixon Raceway in Hagerstown, and that's even a 45 minute drive.
