my car was popping thru the intake under light throttle i was getting a code saying rich o2 so the puter kept leaning it out till i got detonation put new ones in and it solved the problem!

Did you check your fuel pressure? I have seen the factory pressure regulators go bad and cause the system to lean out. The other prob if the pressure is low could be a bad pump. These will put you into detination too. I did a block off for my EGR with a sheet metal plate that was fabricated using the EGR gasket as a template. You just make it to the dimensions of the gasket, drill the two bolt holes in it, and onlt put one EGR hole in the plate for the EGR pintal to protrude into. The hole that you delete prevents the exhaust gas to recirculate and at the same time the EGR is still on there making the pcm think all is good in emmissions land.
