Converting my 5.0 foxbody to a 4.6 32v cobra engine?
Found a cobra 32v 4.6 engine for 1989 5.0 LX. Was curious what exactly it takes to do the swap? Has anyone out there done this already? Any info woudl be great thanks

I'm real supportive of keeping the 5.0 mustang a 5.0 or as close to it as you can. I wouldnt do the swap but it's your car.
As far as I know...you'll probably need a tranny off of the cobra, the cobra computer. New or custom motor mounts. All kinds of **** dude.

If that motor is stock...theres no way in hell you're getting 500 horsies lol. But...yea it would be cool. I saw the same motor with the T56 in a '41 ******* glass coupe. Badass. Umm...just off the top of my head...those things. New driveline...probably new rear end. I'd go with the 9" with that setup. The 9" has proven time and time again to be bulletproof. You might expect some cutting...those 32v motors are ENORMOUS.

I think it is a cool idea. If something happens to my engine I was debating buying a 351w Gen 1 Lightning engine from my friend that he said he would part with for $1,500. I think a Gen 1 Lightning engine would be nasty in a fox body...

Yeah i hear ya with teh 351 that was what i was going to do but you never see 4.6 cobra engines in a fox. The engine im looking at getting is out of a 97 cobra and has a 1.7 Kenne Bell s/c on it with cold air, msg coils and ignition. Kenne bell rates the kit for 440 hp in a stock cobra so with a dyno tune and my 3" exhaust etc i figure 500hp woudl be about right
