^yeah you could have it wound up so high at 5K that the bearings are making noise

i looked this up and it appears i'm not the only one running into this problem at higher rpms....remember at normal to moderate it's just fine...wot it does it...

bearing? can't change that without tearing down tranny eh?

I don't see a shift for causing a high pitched noise at high rpms. I'm no tranny expert but bearings don't normally whine. If the high pitched noise is more like a growling (¿spelling?) theres a good chance its bearings. My dads mustang has a tremec but it whines real loud driving in the first 3 gears whether your cruising or punching it
Replacing the bearings does require a tear down. I'm not sure if tremecs are like t5's but they probably require a press with the special pullers and everything just like the t5.
