5 lug conversion few x-tra ?'s
I know you all have seen this question many times.and also I have look in the tech articals about the conversions.
well I got an 85 gt,allready have the 8.8 rear end.what year of ranger axles will fit, also it said I can use the 7.5 drums,do I also get the whole rear brake set up.
as for the front, what could I use that wont blow a hole through my wallet.can I get most of the front set up from the junk yard as for the rest of the parts also?
Thanks

RE: 5 lug conversion few x-tra ?'s
well to answer the front, i did my 5 lug conversion with sn95 spindles and rear end which had disc brakes. If you are going with the sn95 spindles, you will need everthing including the calipers, struts(since thebracket sits lower than the foxes but you will need to reuse your camber plates from the fox). Also you will need:
1. A union for the passenger side brake line. The driver side brake line from the sn95 will bolt right up. IMPT!! remember to get the brake line bolt also! the bolt that attaches the line to the caliper.
2. 2 5/8 washers because the fox ball joint is longer than the sn95.
3. Also, the width of the sn95 is a bit wider for the steering rack, so, you will have to get a major big time alignment, but for the meantime, you can get a leveler and place it on the rotor, and when the bubble is leveled, then that is how far the steering thing has to come out. it has to be unscrewed around an inch. a good bit.

and P.S. everyone says the conversion is easy.. but no it isnt.. once you go hands on, its hard. the hardest part about the conversion is hte passenger side brake line. you better have a line bender for that part.

i did, because my car wasnt lowered. the bracket on the strut that connects it to the spindle was further down on the sn95. like about 2 inches lower, so i had to use hte sn95 strut, maybe if had lowered the fronti woul dhave been able to use the fox strut.
