when you point the light to the harmonic balancer do you see the timing mark? when you see that you will notice that the marks that you made with white out (or whatever you used) is either before or after your marker. check back when you do that

you dont read the light you dill hole! you point it towards the balancer where you made the marks and see how far the marks are form the 0 degree indicator. There should be a bracket of some sort that stays stationary when you adjust timing. OHHH Newb!

ORIGINAL: Frebius

I unplugged that connector and fired the car. I had a pretty flashing light but that is about it. I have no idea how to read the damn thing.

That is what I ment smart ***, I guess I am missing the bracket or just don't know where to look because I see nothing down by the ballancer, nor can I see any of the marks I made.

a little touchy are we?

manuver the light around until you see the marks. Your probaly looking at the bottom part of the balancer. Its a little tricky. You may need to point the light through one part and look through another, until you find it.

No I didn't. I don't see any type of Stationary Marker for 0*. I don't know if I need a new balancer because the old marker broke off or what. I am going to have a buddy of mine who is a little more rounded when it comes to Mustangs look at it. I feel like I am 16 again trying to have sex with a girl and fumbling around like an idiot.

If your looking down on the balancer there should be a piece of metal like a bracket that is about half an inch above the balancer. On my 91 its slightly to the passenger side of the balancer. Thats your indicator. Your marks should be on the part of the balancer right below this.

Take it easy we have all been there before.

Yea I just have a real short temper and start to get frusterated and my vehicle is running like crap which just adds that much more to the problem. Could someone take a picture of the metal brack next to the balancer?
