RE: Is the U Joint in the Front or Rear of the Drive Shaft?
I was just thinking. It's probably because your tires hook up so hard that you broke the joint--that and that it was an old joint (I assume). Course you probably thought of that already.

RE: Is the U Joint in the Front or Rear of the Drive Shaft?
there is 2 types, a press in type and the other one uses a snap ring
look to see if there is a snap ring where the end of the u-joint is.
if there is one, take all 4 out and hammer out the u-joint, start at one end till it is almost out, then take off the bearing cap(you will understand once you see it)then hammer it out the other side, once both bearing caps are off you will be able to wedge it out of there.
to install the new one you will have to first take off 2 bearing caps making sure none of the needle bearings fall out.
then install the piece the same way it came out.
install the bearing caps from the bottom (one at a time)so the needle bearings dont move
and there you go.
if they have the snap rings then do the same but you have to remove the old snap rings and replace them with new ones that come with the u-joint.

It's easy with a press. What I would do if I were you is take it and the new u-joint to a garage and pay them to do it. It will be cheap. Watch them do it, next time you will know how.
