heres the problem, the heads are gonna hold you back from being able to take full advantage of a victor junior and a good roller cam. Whoever ports the heads HAS to do a max effort, max effort as in ALMOST striking a water jacket. They need to be atleast as good as a GT40 head. I would suggest on a budget is to junk yard a gt40 head or the do the parts store scam-swap for a P head. Then we could talk abut a vic jr intake and cam. No other intake is gonna touch it if we put the right pieces in place.

the explorers I believe, I moved away from small blocks in the mid 90's so I never did the junkyard thing but I think like 96-97 and a few others. Someone will chime in with the years.

How hard is it to put a big block in the fox, because my uncle gave me a 69 ford truck with a 390.maybe I can use that motor and build that up.

should I go auto or stay stick?

the gt40's are iron and dont even think about the 390, there is no stick on the market that will handle the torque of a built big block. Well there are a few but not in the price range.

No 390 whatsoever, maybe those sticks would handle a very mild big block, but not any big block worth putting in a mustang. A 600hp big block that makes 700lb-ft of torque would shatter those sticks. You gonna custom make a header for a 390? Is there a double hump oil pan for a 390? There just not the motor for the mustang, 429-460 is the motor to use.
