Default quarter window moldings

hey guys

i have an 87 gt and the moldings around the quarter windows are fading. ive been told that the moldings and quarter window are all one piece, so its kinda pricey to get new moldings with the window when the glass is still good. Can i just get a can of black spray paint and tape off the moldings and spray them? If so, is there some kinda of special paint that id have to use like one thats made for plastic and rubber? I also need to do the same thing for the metal trim around the windshield as the paint is chipped around the top of the windshield. I tried to order the windshield trim from ford but the cant get it for me.
Just any suggestions of how to get them black again would be great!

Thanks in advance

steada makes plastic "covers" for the quarter glass moldings, but in my opinion they look like ****... I bought them but never used them... I ultimately found the after market (new) quarter glass (both sides) for around $300 for the pair on the internet... these were good... just didnt say Mustang on the glass... Im sorry I cant tell you anymore where I bought mine but maybe someone else can help out or do an internet search...

Use trim and bumper black paint..will look nice. I took my 1/4 windows out, sanded them and painted 4 coats of filler primer, sanding between coats, then 2 coats of black, but mine were really rough. Turned out really nice

Here is a picture. I am very happy, don't know how long it will last, but it only cost me like $12 and a day. New windows for $300+ isn't in my buget. If I can make my windows look like that, I don't know why anyone would buy new one cus they look like new.
