Default Check engine and off road H Pipe

I have a 1995 Cobra and it has a off road H pipe Installed, would this cause the check engine light to come on from time to time and then go off again? It comes on for about 30 seconds to 1 minute and goes off again. Comes on maybe every 30 minutes or so then goes right back off, Thanks, Dave

Have you tried pulling any codes? If there's an Autozone near you they'll pull any codes for free. I believe yours has the OBD I so I don't believe it would exactly be coming from having an O/R h-pipe. Did you happen to change the O2 sensors?

They told me they could only pull codes if it stayed on all the time.

from what I've read about the OBDII system, it could the the off road pipe as the OBD system is a lot more sensitive than the EEC IV is, but that's about all I can offer you.

My CEL kept coming off and on but they were still able to pull the codes. I still think that '95's were the last year of OBD I. They have both diagnostic ports, 1 under the dash and 1 under the hood. They pulled my from under the hood, back passenger corner behind strut tower.

First of all its OBD 1 technology. Autozone can only find a problem if the light is on at the time of scan. sounds to me like a egos problem. You can order from summit racing a egos MIL blocker thingy??? it is about 60 bucks i think.

MIL blockers are only good for the '96 and up models with the 4.6. The light is off, I think it was coming on because of a misfire. There was a lot of water in the gas tank from the car sitting. It runs better every day.

Glad to hear it's running better. If the CEL keeps coming off and on. You can get a scanner at Wal-Mart or parts store for like 25-30 bucks (that's what I did). Or you can use a volt/ohms meter.
