Default Foxbody Frame Pt. II

Yeah, so the engine is here. It's a 1993 5.0 with only 4,700 mi, about. I got it for $50 at a junkyard (u pull it) with just about everything. They consider anything you pull with the motor, the motor, so I even have the AC compressor. Haha! The tranny, I'm still looking around for, (debating whether I should make the trek to Jersey to pick it up from 88GT).

Alright, so now that most of the mechanics are coming together, I'm having trouble with upholstery. I'd like to... well... I need to pretty much redo the entire interior. I'm not going to put the rear seats back in, so is there any sort of plain black carpeting that I can fasten to the bare metal floor? I also could probably use a new dash. I'm going to need interior door panels, and probably a new rear hatch.... so any recommendations? As far as the hatch I heard something about a carbon fiber... or maybe it was a fiberglass hatch. That's interesting.

You've all been a big help, so thanks in advance.

I think you are thinking of a fiberglass hatch... its alot of money and to tell you the truth... if you have other things you should be spending your money on than hold off on the hatch.

Here's the problem with a fiberglass hatch that I didn't know until I had my car repainted and put one on. The stock lifters are too strong for the lighter hatch (cervini) and a) it's way too hard to close and b) once closed exerts too much pressure on the center sides of the hatch and causes them to "bow up" and create a gap.

I ended up taking the lifters off because the extra stress will eventually cause the fiberglass to crack and fail. Now I have to use a prop rod to hold it open and it's pretty heavy to open. SUCKS, because I use the hatch all the time.

The thing is, the rear hatch doesn't close. I believe that it's because of the worn bolt on the body not the hatch, so it's a quckie fix. So, that's okay. I can hold out without a new hatch.

they make rear seat delete kits, search on 50resto.com.

door panels and carpit kits also available at 50resto.com

recommend taking it to a local auto-interior place though
and have them make door panels exactly the color and style you want.

if you're replacing entire dash, consider putting a late model dash in.
you can find in junk yards and they fit with a little trimming and modification.

www.astroperformance.com has pretty good deals on re-man trans too

But that's not it, I mean it closes, but it doesn't snap shut. That bolt is pretty damn worn.

It's really not even worth the money to get a fiberglass hatch anyways.
The weight of the hatch is all in the glass.

And I havn't looked in a while, but I believe 50resto's rear seat delete's are for 94+

I might, but this fix is pretty easy, I think. If it's not as quick a fix as I had hoped, I'll probably just buy a new hatch from a junkyard, that's a good idea.
