High HP Daily Drivers?
Hey is have a 87 Mustang that I was thinking of dropping a 351w and supercharger into. The only problem is that it will guzzle gas and it is my only car right now. Im looking to put out about 500whp if I decide to do this. What do you guys think about a 500hp daily driver? Is it reasonable? How many of you guys drive your high hp mustangs everyday? How far? Thanks

Turbo Fox with 372 rwhp is my daily. Don't really drive that far for work. Less than 5 miles. Will be driving a lot farther when school starts back up though. Looking to get a DD. Not because of gas, just to preserve the life of my Stang.

Mine's not a true DD because I never let it see rain or possible bad weather. But I sold my wife's car and she's been driving the Powerstroke for about 2 months now, so I've been driving it more than normal. I also leave for work at 4:30 A.M. and drive 26 miles one way. My car is loud enough that the neighbors sure don't like me taking it to work at that time in the morning. I also won't park it like for example outside a mall or movie theater where I won't be able to see it for an extended time. But I do take it out several times a week during the week and it's my constant weekend cruiser. It probably sees 8-10k miles annually. I drive over 40k annually. With over 600rwhp, since it's still EFI, I average 12-14mpg depending on how I drive it.

my car is my DD and only car. last time i was on the dyno i made 407rwhp but had a bad maf so it killed my power. anyways, i should see 450rwhp for sure next time i go and get about 12-14mpg with all city driving.
imo, 800-850rwhp is the cut off for a daily driver. so i say go for your 500rwhp but a blown 351w with h/c/i will make more then 500rwhp
