Which plugs are you using? What is your gap?
What are your mods?

Its probably just your timing being off. But improperly gapped spark plugs changes your timing as well. I would set your timing correctly then go from there.

i gapped my plugs wrong once and my car'd backfire under load. took them out and regapped them with a gap tool and it was perfect. I use autolites, cheap but effective.

I had Bosch platinum 4's since I installed my blower a couple years ago.
Now I am using Autolite Copper (around $11 for all 8 of them at Autozone I think).
My car seems to like these much better.
I wouldn't have believed it if I hadn't done it for myself, but Autolites are a better match for these V8's.

You will want to use Autolite Copper 25 with a gap of .052-.054 if you are pretty much stock.

I went with one colder 24's because of the blower and highway use and gapped them at .45,
although the guy who tuned my car says to gap them at .35 which I will fix.
