5.0L (1979-1995) Mustang Technical discussions on 5.0 Liter Mustangs within. This does not include the 5.0 from the 2011 Mustang GT. That information is in the 2005-1011 section.

how does the dipstick come out? Does it just pull out? I have an '85 GT that I'm putting non-equal headers on and I don't want to pull it too hard in case I'm missing something.

The stick just comes out of the tube...

The tube has a hold down on a valve cover bolt. Undo the hold down and pull the tube out of the block.
