ok, so im reading a car and driver printed in like August of '94
and they did an article about a '95 cobra 'vert.
and they mention it's "4.9L Powerplant"
and im all like...que?[&:]
i thought it was a 5.0

Yeah I thought a 306 cu in was an actual 5.0. Trust me all my GM buddies give me crap about my car not being a 5.0 and that its only a 4.9..... But when I smack them up with my boost, then they feel even dumber that a lower literage car walked them.
Oh BTW, I don't advertise 5.0 anymore so they can't say sh*t no more. Debadged the pony.

The real reason Ford labeled the 302 motors as a 5.0 when they actually started referring to them in litre form is because the 4.9L was being used by their famous 300ci I6 motors in their trucks (those things are bullet proof). They were afraid if they called them a 4.9L then people would think they are getting the I6 and not a V8. But it is in all reality a 4.9L motor.
