Default i need some advice

ok well i have the money pretty much saved up for a new short block. but i cant make up my mind if i want to go with a 408 and then run either a turbo or supercharger at low boost to get to my goal of 600hp. or if i should go with a 306,331, or 347 and just run a little more boost. i plan on running afr heads on wichever combo i go with and probably trick flow trackheat intake and an x 303 cam. any comments or advice are wlecome. thanks guys. i just need a little direction.

Good combo. The track heat intake and 185 AFRs should be a great combo, go with the 408, but 306, 331, 351 should all do fine with a power adder. From what ive seen a good cam would be a comp cam xtreme energy 274 HR cam.

If 600 hp is the goal, a stock 302 block won't hold up to it for long.

anything over 500hp on a 302 block I would suggest you carry a broom and dustpan in your trunk so you can sweep up the mess after it splits in half

ok sorry i wasnt clear. if i go with the 306,331,or 347 i would be buying a new block from coast high performnace. i wouldnt use the stock block. what size heads should i use if i go with the 306,331,347 combo. i was thinking 185s because of the power adder. also how much boost do you think i will have to run with either combo.

if u get forged internals u can run a good bit of boost but i think 10-12 psi would prob get u too ur goal if u have a good base to start with.... go with turbo

Done right (not cheap) a good 408 will make 600HP N/A on a carb without N20........
HP is the really in the heads when you are going this big with SBF.....

a 408 with AFR heads and a twin turbo running 3 lbs of boost will get you 600hp easily.
get it all forged and up the boost then we are talking some BIG numbers.
the 351 block will be more reliable than a 302 block, unless it is a dart block or something, then you could run 40psi boost on a 306 and make more than 600hp.

it all depends on how much you are willing to spend.
