Default Will this motor work

I have posted this on a couple of occasions with no response, so I will just assume that I am asking the wrong questions.

I want to swap my stock 5.0 HO in my 1995 GT with a 351. The 351 I have now currently resides in a 1995 F-250. Will this motor be worth using, is there any downside to the 351 from this year model, how difficult would this conversion be, or is this motor just all out junk. This is the stock motor in the 95 F-250, but i have no numbers to post for yall because I have no idea where to look. I am mostly concerned about the block itself because i do not intend on sticking with the stock heads and intake unless otherwise recommended.

Any facts, thoughts, or opinions will be greatly appreciated!

I'm not sure on that one but on my 94 f-150 it has a flat tappet cam. That would be a downside to me.

not really any downsides, I would run a solid roller cam, but that gets expensive, to give you an idea of what it costs me to run a solid roller, its about 800-1000 dollars to run good vavletrain. Unless you plan on doing some serious upgrades I would evaluate what you are trying to accomplish. You could also run a solid flat cam which are much much cheaper. I dont know what you want to do

The 351 is a good motor, as far as it will fit yes it will VERY easily. The block is basically the same as a 302 except its about an inch taller and like 2" wider. Even the heads from your 302 are interchangable with the 351. As long as its a windsor motor not a clevland (early 70's). As far as clearances your on your own there. The only thing I can forsee being a problem is hood clearance. But with the right cowl hood you should be fine. Also you should be able to use your 302 mounts. Hoep this helps.

Whats wrong with flat tappets? My first stang (79 5.0) was a flat tappet motor, I ran a .498 int, .510 exh, with 292 duration NO problem. It actually made more torque than a roller motor with a similar cam.

Not a horrible downside. you just don't have to worry about the roller stuff wearing out down the road.

a 1995 351W will be a roller cam block, so your set as far as that goes.

the 351 block is AWESOME, much stronger than a 302 and most everything
swaps over and motor mounts and trans bolts right up.

since its already a roller cam block, you can use any of the 302 cams
and the heads are all the same, 351 head just has bigger bolt holes.

firing order for 351 and HO302 are the same so you
use your stock computer and wiring harness, upper intakes are the same
but lower intake manifold is different. ( look for 5.8L lower intake off Lightning truck on ebay )
you'll need new headers too, and a raised hood

conversion is not that hard, here is everything you need, some stuff
will be different but most is the same for your 95, vs. a 86-93.

you sure about that? supposedly 94 was the year they went to a roller cam in the 351W.

all the long blocks i've seen listed, show up to 93 as non-roller and 94-98 as roller blocks.

Thanks guys, all the input is much appreciated. As far as what i intend to do with the motor... that really depends, I'm new to not only mustangs, but fords in general being converted from GM products rescently not to ever look back. I'm not looking to make it a race car, just give it some power without killing to much of the driveability seeing as this is and will be my daily driver. I mean bigger is better right?

I understand my gas mileage will be almost cut in half, but i work only 10 miles from home and typicly park her on the weekends. Hope that helps give a tad bit more insight on my perdicament.
