Yup - that's true. Lee Rudder back in the day with his red stripper LX would do it with nothing more than a proper suspension and tires, some gears and a few low buck mods like short belt and other free stuff.

i aggree slicks and good suspension and clutch will prolly pull an almost stock cars front tires up. there was a guy running at our local street drags(front straight of the local 5/8th short track) and with slicks he coudl just barely lif them on a 4.6 with nitrous, but your not gonan launch with nitrous anyways, and a trick suspension.
