^^^you'll hear the honeycomb stuff rattling around in there if it's broken off, but not necessarily if it's clogged. You can buy Magnaflow hi-flo cats on ebay for $55 each shipped. Then just have a muffler shop weld them in for you. I paid around $30 each for the install.

Yup -- killed a nice set of brand spankin' new set of high flows when I first got my car running (duh...slap the off road on, idiot[sm=chairshot.gif])...it was a little rich, after several hot and cold cycles, the cats had been glowing due to the unburn fuel...yeah, once I sorted it out and drove it around, I got into the car on the highway, whacked a gear and I heard the rattle...exhaust pulses must have broken off the pieces...
Ahh well, what's a couple hundred bucks anyway?

Hey, Drain-O doesn't work....been there done that....you might kill some crap around you if you aren't careful where the exhaust goes. (small rodents, children, women.....etc..)
Buy the MagnaFlow HiFlo's like they mentioned above. That's your best bet.
Good luck,
Ivan

RE: Advice on Header swap
...to add to my post above.... If you're running a stock H, buy a used O/R H in good shape to install the cats on. Several advantages to replacing them on the stocker.
1--stocker has 2 sets of cats. Replacing just one set would be a waste, and it would be cheaper to buy a catted H than to replace all 4.
2--Aftermarket H pipe's are usually 2.5" diameter instead of the stock 2.25"
3--The crossover (- part of the H) is usually a little larger diameter on aftermarket H's, creating better scavenging and power.
If you have an aftermarket H already, well....nevermind[sm=icon_beat.gif]
