AOD Transmission trashed? Couple questions...
Hello all
Originally i had a 87 notch that i was going to do a 5.0 swap in, but ran accross a 93 GT w/ leather in good shape for 2700. It had a bad tranny, but i have a good AOD at the house for it from where i was going to do the swap.
So being myself, i try driving the 93 anyway to find out that if im easy with it, it shifts fine, it'll only "SLIP" when i take off hard. Other than that, it shifts just fine. In talking to my cousin and his dad about it (both mustang guys) they seem to think that it might just need a new Torque converter and a fluid/filter change. Fluid level is full. What do you guys think. If thats all it needs then I was just going to fix it stock to make it drivable, and take my other trans and build it up some with a better/heavier OD band, lentech valvebody (but keep OD) instead of a shift kit, and a nice stall converter. Im not asking if this is what i should do, im asking if you guys think the original tranny only needs a TC and Fluid/filter change. Oh
Also, when i went on the Advanceautoparts website and AutoZone website, they list the 93 Mustang as having a AOD-E... i think this is wrong but I wanted to be sure.
Thanks - OJM/NREMT-P
