Default RE: Headers

The only reason i could justify buying ceramic coated headers is if you live in an area that is prone to forming rust on parts. otherwise the chromes would be fine. I love my BBK Equals. the only reason i had a hard time installing them is because my motormounts were shot. The headers were rubbing on my steering shaft and made horrible noises. but i changed out the mounts and they no longer rub..

so i would recommend getting a new set of mounts if yours havent been replaced in a while

i doubt bbk dynos less than any other shorty, ive heard the gain with equal is like 2 hp or osmthing, and definetly harder to install. i have bbk equal length shortys with ceramic coat. no leaks or anything, just a little rattle cause they rub, but new motor mounts would fix it.

Well, I think more than anything else I'd be interested in the low-rpm torque and power gains that the equals offer along with the high-rpm gains that are about equal to unequals. The reason I'm not even thinking about long tubes are - (1) the price, (2) the fact that I live in California and so I have to pass ****-esque CARB regulations and every 2 year VISUAL checks along with emmissions.

What about fitment? Do equals rub on the wheel wells, and you don't have to yank the engine to install them do you? Do you need to move anything like smog pump hoses, or any hoses? I have a smog hose right between my pass side header and wheel well (it's stock).

i am 100% satisfied with my unequal length ceramic bbk headers. i installed them myself with shot motor mounts and had minimal clearance issues. i don't know if it was in my head or what but i felt improvement

From the research I've done, FRPP ceramic shorties use Jethot now. Livernoismotorsports.com has them for $290.
