Tranny problems
My AOD with shift kit got a little angry on the way home from work. I passed a car it it seemed to slip a little. I let off the gas and coasted by. I was going downhill and when I got to the next hill sssssslip. I downshifted to D and everything seemed normal. Shifted to OverDrive and now it wont even pull it's self, ewww not good! When i let off the gas RPM's are normal OverDrive RPM's, but as soon as I touch the gas slippity slip.My question is, will a fluid change and maybe a tranny conditioner help? I supposed the damage is allready done?
Driving in D is not an option on the highway. A 4:10 gear sends my RPM's to about 3200 at 60mph. Gas would kill me at these prices!
Ohh yeah, I looked at the fluid and it has good color and is full. It smelled a touch on the burnt side but was kinda hard to tell.

RE: Tranny problems
a similar thing happend to me except i hit 2nd at about 75 to race a buddy of mine and i think i twisted the input shaft apart cause i only have 1st and 2nd and if i put it into d it slips then catches 2nd eventually and if i put it in od it just reves up. the same thing happend to me a month ago and when i pulled the trans the input shaft was twisted in half but the tv cable also popped out. anyone have any ideas am i right thinking its jsut the input shaft or is the whole tranny toast.

RE: Tranny problems
dont change the tranny fluid i just went through the auto trans class at my school and the teacher said if you go so long without changing the fluid it accumulates small peices of the clutch material which while floating between the discs helps them grab so if you remove those tiny particles now theres a good chance your clutch pack clearance will be too great and OD might not work at all
