Default Motor rebuild

I was wanting to rebuild my 5.0 but do no gave the technical skill to do it myself. So does anyone know what it might cost to pay someone to rebuild it? Also what might it cost for someone to rebuid it with performence parts and punch it out?

All it takes is Cash brother.

How much are you spending? What is your goal? Race or street?

I could go on.

Wait until MyShifter get's a hold of this link....

Anyway, hey the block prep is going to run aroun $340-$500 depending on who's proud of what they do.

Here is a list of what I would pay here from a GOOD shop.

Bore 8 cylinders with Deck Plate: $175 ($96 without DP but I would spend the money on this one.)
Turn the Crank: $75, $25 addt'l to polish, but again, I would do it.
Hang Pistons: $40 ($5 each)
Install Cam Bearings/Oil Galley Plugs/Freeze Plugs: $25
Vat/Clean/Hot Tank Block: $30
__________________________________

Total: about $370

This does not include any parts at all. This is just the labor involved (in my case). Pistons: anywhere from $175 on up. Again, money well spent. Freeze plugs $18. Oil Galley plugs $12. Cam Bearings/Crank Bearings/Rod Bearings: $125 (Clevite 77) again, you can find them for less.

This is a BASIC rebuild. So far it's pretty close to $500. And that's for the bottom end only. Heads/Valves/etc only gets to be more.

I hope that this helps and again, should be used as a benchmark only. I'm sure that there are different markets that may or maynot charge more or less.

This is one of the better shops in Albuquerque and there were several shops that were cheaper. I didn't want to go with the lowest bidder on this one myself, but if one trusted a shop, then hey, have at it.

Good luck and hope that I helped a little.

I was just quoted $1,600 for turn-key stock rebuild
and $2,250 with forged pistons and steel crank and cam upgrade.

this inlcuded all parts and labor with refurbished heads and 3yr/36k warranty.
