You never said you checked the gap, just said plugs are new....What kind of plugs you running and what is your gap? Clutch adjusted right? What is your timming set at? Air charge temp sensor maybe...you run the codes?

ALL MECANCICS say to run ford plugs. Motocraft thats what i put in

clutch is fine

nothing to do with that
its a hesitating sound like lack of power.

Have you checked your timing? Base timing should be at 10* BTDC. Also are your spark plugs gapped right .048-.052 is what the emission sticker says. If its anything different than that it would throw your timing off.

I had an 85 GT that had this same problem. It was a bare wire in the engine that would make it start to sputter at around 2500 to 3000 rpms, I cannot remember which one it was, it was like 10 years ago. It drove me nuts for a week and then a friend of mine came over and we found the wire, it was not totally bare but a little piece of the coating was gone. Hope this helps.

What is your timing set at? What is your fuel pressure at idle & wide open throttle? Check the vacuum at your fuel pressure regulator and see if it's leaking too. Does it backfire from the throttle body at WOT? I spent a month dealing with the same problem on my 93 GT and I started checking my entire ignition system, then moved on to my fuel system. Turned out to be a bad mass airflow sensor
