explain you're logic. Obviously there are other things that factor into a race victory, but HP is by far the biggest one. The 5.0 has 10 hp less then the 4.0 2005+ v6. Perhaps a well tuned modded 5.0 could make the kill. However, with nothing other then a factory tune, it would seem to me that the 5.0 would fall prey to the v6. Obviously not by much....i'm not tryin to say that it would be a big kill, but a kill none the less. My point was i'm not going to make a trade with the downsides that there would be in this peticular one, without a big power gain. a bigger engine doesn't mean anything with the HP to back it up. Thats like me trying to say that i could smoke the new Toyota Camry just because my car is a Mustang....obviously, i would get killed.
It's settled then. But if I had an 05 v6, I would sell it and get a real mustang...I mean...a built 5.0.:D

But seriously, the 05 V6 has 65lbs less torque, and almost 20 less hp than even a stock 5.0--according to this link:
http://www.engine-power.com/ford/2005_mustang_v6.html

That sounds like more than a meager power increase. Plus, you could do free modifications that would make a 5.0 even faster. I'd go for the rumble and power of a 5.0 any day. Just my opinion.

RE: how much HP?

A. That spec sheet is wrong. the '05 v6 has 210 hp

B. I was under the impression that the 5.0 only had 200 hp

Overall, you gotta look at the downsides and upsides

DOWNSIDES

I would be trading in an almost brand new car, that runs perfectly, looks tons better (IMO), and only has 25000 miles on it for a car thats 11 years old, has an out of date look (IMO), and has 110000 miles on it

The car i would be getting in the trade has 10 less hp

UPSIDES

Less of a monthy payment

better sound.

If that car ran about 280 hp....i'd be sold.

STOCK

1995 5.0 215HP 285TQ 6.1sec 0-60 14.9 1/4mile time
2005 4.0 210HP 240TQ 6.9sec 0-60 15.3 1/4mile time

Stock for stock, the 95 wins the numbers game and wins on the track.

You could build a 300hp 95' for a third of what you paided for the 05' V6.

If you really want to save money and go fast, buy a 89-92 fox 5.0 (hatch/notch...whatever) and start bolting on.

But its all in what you want bub.

RE: how much HP?

well, check this out.

If I'm not mistaken, a BONE STOCK fox 5.0 87-93 (no NOTHING, maybe timing advance) will run a low 14s 1/4 mile, the sn95 5.0 is a little slower as the weight is increased dramatically over the fox, however, it's still not as heavy as the 05,06 v6 stang, and it has more power (5 more horses if you want to go by Ford's rating, around 10-15 more if you want to look at dyno charts).

Lower weight, plus 10-15 more HP= faster ET.

However, I hear you with the brand new car thing, these old stang's take work once in a while.

RE: how much HP?

the 05 v6 has 60 less tq, 15 less hp and weighs about 450 lbs more than a 5.0 hatchback......... also it goes 0-60 .8 seconds slower than a 5.0 and runs a 15.4 at 90 mph which is about a second slower than a stock 5.0 .... what do you think will happen?
ps- some sites say it has 202 hp and 235 tq......

RE: how much HP?

What it's come down to is mechanical quality of the car. My car is undoubtebly in much better shape then the 5.0 I was looking at, and with only a 5-15 hp gain, i'm not interested.

Good. More cars for us!! Just kidding. I can totally respect your view on it. Good luck either way.
