Default Is My Clutch Going Bad?

When i first got my car, the clutch engaged at about halfway out. now it engages at almost all the way out. they clutch doesnt slip, at all, and i can still dump it no problem and spin the tires. i dont get it. the only thing it can think is a worn cable, but then again, i dont even know if our clutches are hydraulic or cable![&:]

Check your cable adjustment. I heard something a few yers ago about checking the clutch by putting it into gear (cant remember if it was high or low) and then getting off teh clutch. If the car died that the clutch was good. I cant remember the actual process though.

Clutches are cable operated.

I can't answer your question though. I'm not a trans guy.

I think if it was going bad though, you'd feel it slippin first.

yes, my clutch is good enough to stall without any gas. i can still powershift into 2nd and grab no prob. i know absolutely nothing about adjusting my clutch. i heard some bull$hit about pulling backwards on the clutch then pushing it in or something, but that didnt work. any ideas?

if its the stock cable assembly you just pull up on the pedal, it should click a couple times if its out of adjustment. It might just be getting to the end of its life is all

I could just very well be dumb, but I thought that as clutches wear, it will engage/disengage with the pedal closer the floor, and that when a clutch is good, it will be near the top of the pedal travel. Isn't that how it works? If so, maybe your clutch was out of adjustment back then, and the tensioner has recently cinched up some slack. Also, if your cable was stretched, wouldn't it create the exact opposite symptom you are describing?
