Any Difference Between An Off Road or Catted H?
Hey, I've been reading these forums for awhile now but I've never posted. I finally have some money to spend on my 87 GT and was wondering if there is a big difference in sound or performance between an off road or catted h pipe. I think I've read that the off road will be louder, but is there any real performance difference between the two. I know exhaust doesn't really give you any significant HP gains, but I wanted to know anyway. I wanted to know this before I ordered headers and a cat back so I can save a few bucks on shipping.
On a completely unrelated note, are there any parts on a '92 LX 4 banger that are interchangable or would be a good upgrade for my car? I'm only asking because my brother got into an accident with it and I want to take anthing worthwhile off of it before it gets junked.
Thanks for any replies in advance.

I do have emissions, as I live in PA. I should have said that in my first post. Is there enough of a difference thats its worth changing the stock midpipe back in for emissions tests once a year? Thanks for the reply

off road = better, emissions usually are cut off after '97, at least in NY, check w/ a liscensed inspector on the criteria, if possible go with off road, sounds better

Like everyone else said, they are louder and they do give you a little extra hp. Im talking like 2 extra hp. I think the main reason for people buying them is that they are also usually half the price of a catted mid pipe.
