Popped my T-5

Popped my T-5
So yeah...I was driving with a couple of friends last night and the guy in front of me was going pretty slow...So I figured why not pass him, it's a long straightaway going up a hill. I dropped into third gear and started accelerating (I didn't mash the gas) and when I got to about 70, my transmission made a rather loud snapping noise and continued grinding...Fortunately I had alot of momentum because the hill I was going up was pretty steep. I put my foot on the clutch and rolled down the other side of the hill. I tried putting it in all the gears, and reverse, third, and fourth were gone. First and second sort of worked but were clanging pretty bad. It also rattles really loudly in neutral with the clutch released.
So yeah, my transmission exploded...Which wasn't entirely unexpected because my car puts out more torque than the transmission is rated to handle. Oh well, at least now I get an excuse to beef it up. Luckily my neighbor is the head of the service department at the local Ford dealer so I get really good deals on labor and parts. He said he would help me out. Last time I had the car in there he charged me 500 bucks for 2400 dollars worth of labor...So it pays to know people, lol.
What's the best kit out there to build up a T-5? It would be pretty sweet to switch over to a T-56...But what does that entail? Thanks.

RE: Popped my T-5
patience Danielson...........
www.ddperformance.com
they have stock rebuilds for like $900 or full on T-56 kits for $2,600-3,700 depending on hp rating.
www.astroperformance.com
they have stock for $750-850 but have mandatory core return.
they also 500+hp T-5's called the G-Force T-5 for about $1,700 with core return.
both companies also have TKO 500 & 600 transmissions too. ( sometimes require new bellhousing, yoke and d/s )
if you're going to rebuild local try and find someone that will
rebuild with either super alloy (good for about 350hp) or G-force internals ( good for 500+hp )

RE: Popped my T-5
Yes those numbers are from the dyno...I don't have any ETs. I was planning on taking the car to a local Dyno Day today at one of the speed shops in town...but I'm obviously not driving it anywhere. IF you do that setup though, you will be satisfied...because this car pulls extremely hard.

RE: Popped my T-5
I don't know if I have enough money to buy a whole new transmission...I'm going to see what my neighbor can do for me.
And to answer your question, no, they're not off an Explorer.
