Loose Mustang, how to fix?

Loose Mustang, how to fix?
Hi everyone.
I've driven my mustang only a few times.
I took it out for a long drive, about 20 miles, and I didnt like the way the car handled.
It felt really "loose" or "floaty" Like I wasn't really in control.
How can I make the car feel safer/tighter?
It has the stock suspension and wheels, and gears.
Please tell me first what I can adjust.
Then perhaps non-performance parts, (new this...new that)
I'm not interested in replacing my suspention at this time.
THanks dudes

RE: Loose Mustang, how to fix?
does it feel like driving a air-ride suspensioned cadillac? if so, I would probably say your shocks/struts are gone all the way around. Try that first, probably run you less than $200 to replace the shocks, and while you're under there I'd replace the spring isolators, if you dont plan on changing the springs

this is normal for our cars the uni-body flexes to much so you get the feeling you are describing. To fix that you can do these suspension upgrades in order:
subframe connectors
upper and lower torwue box reinforcements
upper and lower control arms
strut tower brace
adjustable struts/shocks
lowering springs or coilovers
if you get coilovers camber plates 4 bolt type
for an even better suspension:
panhard bar
torque arm
tubular k-member with tubular A arms
subframe connectors
upper and lower torwue box reinforcements
upper and lower control arms
strut tower brace
adjustable struts/shocks
lowering springs or coilovers

surf around on their site, they have lots of bushing kits that arent very expensive
and will "firm up" your ride.

RE: Loose Mustang, how to fix?
shocks and swaybar mounts may be loose or missing!!
you can tighten up right away with a stiff set of shocks.
Then you can worry about SFC's and better handling packages. I bet you got some old bushings that are shot and that's attributing to the Loose you got going on.

The verts just have alot of slop in the body too.
just start piecing on one at time the different chasis braces available.
will take care of the handleing issues.
strut tower brace
k member brace
sub frame contectors
lower control arms
panhard bar.
MM's $2,200 full kit produced the following results

I would guess that you would just start out with shocks and struts and get a good alignment. After that, if it isn't better, go to the bushing kits and so on.

Can you tell if any of the stuff is worn? An easy way to do it is to jack the car up and push back and forth on the wheel to check the ball joints. You can also push and pull osme of the other components around and see if the part is moving too much from it's mounted position. Look at the bushings as you do this. Sometimes they look great but when you start moving them around you can find them cracked or cut.
Keep looking.
