Was talking with a mechanic yesterday who said that doing the AOD shuffle ( pushing into second then droppin bak into first) will not wreck your transmission, I told him I've herd that it will, he asked me " why would it?" ....so next time I talk to him i'd like to know how it actaully will mess up your tranny so I can have a fair argument , anyone know how it does?

Ask him the difference between the 1-2 swap as opposed to the "Nuetral Drop."

Granted the ND will tear up your tranny quite fast, the same theory takes place when you go from one gear to another. There is a different pressure (internally) in fluid and also displacement vectors on the valve body.

Laymens terms..you can't go from one gear to the next same RPM without doing something (not great) to your transmission.

2 separate sets of clutches are engaged at the same time.

does he realize you have 2 and 3 in the same position? you are shifting into "1" to hold "2"

if he says it's ok.......... i would switch mechanics.

ive actually noticed that if ur in low rpms the shift is smooth

i sometimes do it if im going over a bumpy road

i can say ive tried the shuffle shift while "racing" (i brought 2nd up to the redline) and the tranny definitely hesitated to go into 3rd

last time i ever did that
