Default 1.6 VS 1.7 Rocker Arms..

Ok.. I know that if I were to install some 1.7 rockers on my car that it would increase the lift on my stock cam.

Since I am going to replace the cam (which will already give me more lift) are there any advantages to putting in some 1.7 ratio rockers or should I just get some new 1.6's since my lift is probably already going to be close to the AFR's max lift.?

Basically, if I'm already increasing the lift by swapping out the cam, do I even need to get rockers? Are there any advantages?

That depends on the cam, take the lift & divide by 1.6 then multiply by 1.7 & compare it to the coil bind of the springs on your heads.

1.7 rockers make the cam seem as if it's bigger lift and duration-wise. Whether it's an advantage or not depends on your combo. Again, consult your cam-maker.

Yea.

I just don't really see the point of throwing in 1.7's if I've already got the lift that I want. I can see if I threw them on a stock cam, and then I'd make the lift I wanted, but with swapping the cam, I wouldn't need bigger rockers since I already have the lift I want. I was just wondering if there were any other advantages?

Why decided to just put 1.7 rockers on my stock cam, cost about the same and HELL of lot easier to install

I'm running the E cam w/ 1.72's. I like it...I can hear the cam a little more than I thought I'd be able to. That combo puts my lift at ~.535.

So you've got AFR's? 165's? What cam are you planning? Give us some details and we can give you more specific answers.

Sounds like a good idea. I'm gonna rebuild my whole valvetrain, so I'll probably just swap the cam.

On another note, are the valve springs that come with the AFR 165's good or should I upgrade just for the hell of it?

Like I said, I wanna do my whole valvetrain, and I want everything to be good and be able to take some punishment.

They're probably good unless you plan on turning serious RPMs or huge lift. In that case, your cam guy will tell you what you need.
