Default Need advice on low oil pressure

First off I have a 92LX manual. I was driving it for a while about half hour and it's not that hot outside I was giving it some gas down some quiet streets but other than that just normal. I noticed when I came to a light (at idle) my oil pressure went down below the half way mark on the stock pressure gauge. The RPM gauge wasn't shaking at all sitting around 700-750 the engine was shaking abit like mabye missing. Also I have 10w30 synthetic oil, the temp also was just below half on stock gauge as well, not to bad I guess. So what are some possiblities that could cause this? I was thinking mabye spark plug since it's sound like it's missing ....but would that cause the oil pressure to come down? When i'm driving oil pressure is constant and fine, just when I come to idle. Any help would be greatly appreciated, and if you need anymore info just let me know.

the factory gauges are not know for their accuracy. first thing i would do would be to install an aftermarket gauge and see what pressure its actually running.

Oil pump? Oil pickup screen? Oil filter? I doubt your bearing and bottom end clearances would be out of tolerance, for it'd probably be more severe and be an all time thing.

I don't know. Maybe I'm wrong. Anybody?

The guages are crap...An aftermarket guage would be much more accurate.

So would my timing have anything to do with oil pressure?

Also when i changed my oil I bought a frame synthectic filter which looked alittle bigger than stock. Not sure if that makes much of difference. Just thought I give as much info as I could.

The fact that the oil filter is a bit larger isn't going to change anything really, as long as you put 5 quarts in the block. My car acts very similarly to yours, and there's nothing major wrong with it that I'm aware of.

Sorry just another thing before I get some more feedback.....By getting an aftermarket oil pressure gauge what's that going to do for me. I already know it's dropping when I sit at idle when driving car for a bit. I problaby will get one eventually but for now I want to know what's causing the low oil pressure.

How old is the motor? How many miles? Has the maintenance been kept up on? Has the engine been dogged to hell?

Like I said, it could be a clogged screen, and if it gets worse, pray it's not in your bottom end.

why not just get an aftermarket guage.. ur asking urself whats that gunna do for u? save u headaches and money.. if ur driving around with no oil pressure ur motor isnt going to last so why not make sure its got pressure?

the stock gauge is useless it could say u have pressure and u really don't.

and what do u mean it shakes? it's a v8.. they all shake lol
