RE: looking for some help building another motor
i think it's starting......this motor (400) was rated at 160hp...not sure at what rpm,and 300tq at 1200rpm...

99% of people here are unfamiliar with the 2vcc aussie head. I can hear the uneducated remarks now, they will look at flow numbers and form an opinion right there, not factoring in how much better a canted valve head is as compared to the typical inline windsor heads

this is what i'm going for...if somebody is unfamiliar with these type of heads.

ofcourse it is, 4inch bore, 4 inch stroke 6.580 long rod with an aussie 2vcc head=a torque curve that looks like a pool table, IF built right. Dont skimp and slap it together.

tim meyer is building killer 400 strokers, not cheap but there is a reason why a mass majority of truck and tractor pull guys use them. On the flipside they are not for everyone regardless of the oohs and ahhhs after looking at numbers. The 400 isn't a paint by numbers motor http://www.tmeyerinc.com/

oh i'm not going to skimp...wife+broke truck=dead me.....so what about cam...any changes?...those specs were from my head never seen one in a book.
BTW the reason i like the 400 is..this is the original motor from 79 never been touched.
my uncles winch truck had over 500,000 miles on it before he,and truck retired.that's alot considering what it had to do 7 days a week 15hrs a day.

RE: looking for some help building another motor
I am currently building the 400M for my truck to pull the car to the track. I am going with a 30 dollar edelbrock performer intake, and more than likely Aussie 2V heads as I run them on my Cleveland equipped Stang. I am using a 750 Vac secondary Holley and I am changing out the meter plate in favour of the jetable block and of course jet extensions. I will be doing bowl work and shortside work on the heads myself. I will be running the Comp extreme flat hydraulic 262 cam 218 224 @.050 with .513/.520 lift on a 110 lobe sep. I will be using moroso oil restrictors on this engine, and runing the pistons .005 thous below deck. I am just refreshing the crank and installing ARP rod bolts and Durobond cam bearings. The crank is getting clevitte 77 stuff and the oil pump is a melling stock replacement with an ARP oil pump shaft. I have the heddman 1 3/4 inch long tubes and an 80 gal per hour mechanical fuel pump. This thing should have a very flat torque curve with it making close to 375 ft lbs @ 2000 and a peak of 470 or more @ 4400. The peak power should come in arounf 5500 and it may crest 420 to 430 HP @ the flywheel. If you run the other intakes you mention you will need to buy spacer plates. The ported Aussie @v heads can make up to 500 naturally aspirated HP on a 351 Cleveland with 9.8 to 1 compression so you should make great torque and power with that 400M. I have all my parts and now for the build. I will have about 1500 bucks inthe whole shooting match as I bought and shopped hard.
