Default mean detination

i put together my motor about 9 months ago b4 i went to school and i finally got to putting it in my car, its got h/c/i headers and some other crap, it will idle at 14 degreese of base timing but with any throttle it will pop and detanate and i cant get any rpm out of it and i have no idea what else it could be cuz i double checked everything almost, please let me know if you have any ideas what it could be cuz i want to get this peace running good... thanks

are you sure the distributor is not a tooth off? is the firing order correct?

firing order is on and im pretty sure its on the right tooth but ill move it around and see wehre im at

whats ya totle timing set at..not ur idle timing your totle timing..most folks dont knowwhat totle timing is and its importnat.and id start by backing ya initial timing a few degrees and try that

i put it down to 10 degrese base and i cant get enough rpm out of the motor to get total timing like i said b4, im running a z 303 cam, afr 185 heads, trick flow track heat intake, 70mm t/b - egr, 76mm maf, 30 lbs injectors, and a cheeter box for a/f ratio, 306 bottom end, long tubes and h pipe, and msd coil, 6al box and distrubitor. on 103 octane, and a lot of sauce to go threw the motor as soon as i get it running right

at 14 degrees base timing you need 93 octane gas.

what grade gas you got in there? 87-89 octane at that timing will cause detonation

how are you checking base vs. total timing? you shouldnt need to rev up engine to get total timing
just take that spout connector on and off.

someone ran my plug wires one time for a non-HO firing pattern
made car miss and pop and run like a 3 legged dog. only thing i can think.
