Default Mods for a 12 sec pass?

Hey guys. I just ran my Camaro against the '88 GT, needless to say it got worked hard. I'm about to heads/cam the Camaro on wednesday, (very mild LE1 setup - 370 rwhp hoping for 11.9x, then putting a 150 shot of N20) making it a weekend/strip only car, and I want to take the GT into the 12s (my wife is driving the '99 mostly, so I'm going to end up leaving that stock).

I've read on other sites about people running these into the 12s with bolt-ons only. I personally don't see how this is going to happen. The best I could get out of the stang was 14.4@94 on a 2.19 60 foot (very close to what my '99 ran lol). It'll need at least 10 more mph to hit 12s, so I was thinking probably a cam, mild port/polish on the heads, along with full exhaust and some gears. Springs/shocks/slicks are standard for my cars as well

What are some of your high 12 second recipes?

stock cylinder heads and intake manifold are pretty pathetic.

aftermarket heads
cam
intake
exhaust
gears

should get you in the high 12's and add about 70-80+rwhp over stock.

Aftermarket heads.. can you recommend some of the more cost effective ones? Sorry most of my knowledge is with chevys, I'm new to fords lol.

And aftermarket intakes.. I've seen some local guys running the edelbrock one (at least that's what it says), is that any good?

You can get ford racing and edelbrock heads for under 1100 a pair. For 1150 you can get trickflow heads. For 1300 you can get afr 165 or 185. If your on an all out budget you can get used gt40 iron heads for under $400.

that seems a little farfetched, no?

cam, A/C delete, chuck the sway bar, throw slicks on and its in the 12's?

that would definitely be interesting to see.

Way back when my 88 GT was a daily driver (probably seven years ago) it was a fun twelve second car with a very basic combo.

Stock 110,000 mile bottom end
Stock 110,000 mile cylinder heads
F-303 cam (I think it had just come out)
GT 40 intake
70mm T body
March Ram Air (lol)
FMS 1.6 RR
Kirban adj FPR
March Pulleys
No AC or PS
4.10 gears
MSD ignition
MSD 2 step
O/R H pipe
Flowmaster cat back
Weld Draglite big and littles
28 x 11.5 x 15 MT ET Streets (just came out I think)
Tremec 3550 w/centerforce clutch
All factory suspension components minus front sway bar
Stock headers
No frame connectors
All stock body panels including hood
All stock interior (including sound deadening)
Still Speed Density

The regularly went low twelves (best was a 12.3X@109 mph w 1.63 60ft) naturally aspirated and daily driven (was my only car at the time)

there are a couple of guys over on corral that broke into the 12s with basically just gears and slicks. leave at the rev-limiter and drive it like you stole it.

I saw it about 2 months ago. He's a close friend and big SD guru. He's had a 12sec N/A Cougar and a Fairmont wagon both with near stock SD motors.

did he have anything done to the stangs suspension?
cuz with like UCA's and LCA's, some drag springs and some real fat slicks i can see that.
