Default Just bought my car...already have problems!

At least I think I do??

Well I knew the power locks didn't work but last night when I got it home me and my dad were making sure everything we might have missed it functional...sooo we go out of the car, put the key in the lock, try to turn it....IT WON'T LOCK!? You can't even push the damn thing down!

Another thing is that my dad wanted to make sure the ebrake worked...andddd it got stuck! The button is like jammed!

So my question issssss, am I totally f*cked or can this be fixed for not a whole lotta money, or if there's any tips on trouble shooting these!

Thanks a lot guys in advance and I'll post some pics after I take them when I get home from work (woulda done it last night but we got it home at like 830pm, it was too dark!)

Sounds pretty minor. An ebrake cable is realatively inexpensive and I believe you can get a door lock actuator kit from any parts store for under 100 bucks. Did you just get the car?

^^^ It definetly sounds like the actuator froze up.

yea guys i just bought it yesterday and me and my dad were just testing everything out....the ebrake ehhh still dont know wat to do, and as for the locks i thought that might be it.

..i knew about the locks before i bought it, but didnt about the ebrake and some annoying @ss raddle in the back while driving, hopefully the raddle can be fixed, and ebrake can be brought down with ease (the button is stuck and the handle is stuck at like a 40 degree angle)

thats cause 99% of people never use the ebrake, then when someone else uses it 15 years later its stuck immediately. Just cut if and then spend an afternoon putting a new one on.

Ha!! I never even think about the Ebrake...Yeah ,nobody uses them like ever unless they can't powerslide!

It may be rusted up/frozen. +1 for the WD40. Take it under the car and spray liberally the entire cable assy and tie ins. You might get lucky.

As far as the actuator goes, it may be dead-not a big deal. Junkyard for like $10 bucks easy install.

Great luck to you guys on the new to you car,
Ivan

alrite not to get off topic but ill post my e-brake story lol

2nd day i got my car i was trying to pull it up. damn thing wouldnt move. i soaked it with wd40 and it would wiggle. i finaly said f* it. this things either gunna move or im gunna brake it.

position my feet on the firewall for leverage and yanked that sucker. it was very stuck but i managed to get it to move. while i had it moving i continued to spray it with wd40. this did wonders.

now that i had it up i had to get it down. i had never used this kind of e-brake before i was used to the pedal type ones. anyway i made a very very newbish mistake.. i was not pulling it up before pushing the button in lol
