Default my rack leaks?

I've just been told my rack is leaking, what does that mean? are they trying to sell me a powerband? or a muffler bearing?

rack and pinion is leaking. probably at a boot on either side. the seals inside are probably bad and now the boot has a hole in it causing fluid to escape.

The steering rack I guess? I think when the rack starts leaking it is usally a good idea to replace it. The part should run about 120 ish for a rebuilt.

so is that something you normally have to replace? the rack and pinion together? or can it be repaired?

Here is a good link to look up how to do repairs on many different makes and models. When you open it just click on where it says AARC that will take you to the vehicle specific repair guides.
