so what compression would be ok for 87 pump gas? and what's the hp gains from jumping up to that ratio? what about the 11 ratio and 93 pump gas?
if you want to run 87 then i would stay right at 9:1. if you have a 11:1 engine and try to run 87 its going to run like **** and ping.

cast iron heads 10.5 is good with flat tops... aluminum allows a lil higher compression since its heat disipation is more..meaning gets rid of heat...so if you have 0.5 on cast iron and go to aluminum i have seen 11.0 11.5 some cases//on super unleaded//i have 10.5 on aluminum but i run 93 octane....if i use less its runs like crap... and i have seenrunningalot high compression on pump gas then 11.0 but usually you ned a certain combo set up..

its hard to say, it just depends on the set up. but usually higher compression engines will make more power.

i think im going to go with a small dome and that will get me to 11 to 1 or a little higher. probe makes one that is only like an 8cc dome so that wont be that bad. i was running 93 on my stock block. so i will run it with new setup

You guys all need realize that running more than 10.5 on 93 is a risk, how you get away with it is a well thought out combination with a cam that bleeds off some compression due more overlap. Keep it safe and stay under 10.5, you will only see maybe 10-15 hp by going to 11.5 anyways, so if it's a street drivin car that extra HP is not going to be missed.
