well it is for the street, but you have to remember on alluminum heads because of heat *disapation* spell * you can go about a point higher on compression. if a stock 86 had 9.2 to 1 i would say 10 to 1 stock would be safe and 11 to 1 allum heads, but i could be wrong. what do you all think. and im running the tfs stage 2 cam so would that bleed off

so do you think the tfs stage 2 is the right cam to bleed off enough for 11 to 1

1 point id worth 2-3% more hp. The toyota prius runs 13:1 compression, its all in the camshaft guys

I have to agree with Shifter and JD on the tech aspect. But from the sensibility angle I have to ask myself "why". Would an 11:5:1 car sound great? Yup, so does 10:5:1, for that matter a well built 9:5 car sounds good to. Cam and heads make all the diff in the world. Something else to consider is driveability on the street. 11:5:1 is not the most insane thing I have heard. I drove a 10:5 car as a daily driver until it rapidly became illegal due to modifications. But it sucked, ran hot, various timing issues from change in temp. etc. When you get down to brass tacks, prepping a motor the right way to run higher compression, and all that goes with it for the HP gains you are going to get. Why NOT lean towards blower, spray or turbo. You will find if you are trying to go fast economically, fu-ghet-a-bout-it we all know that. A year from now your will get packed by some ricer with 700:1 compression and huffing 100psi of boost.......your gonna reach for some cash.

Everyone jump upon the peace train.

see alot of guys dont like to tinker and play around with ****, whereas I do. Most guys want to put parts on and go cruising and not have to think twice about it. If your that type just stay around 10.5:1, me I will run 11.5-12:1 on the street and play with timing events on a custom ground cam and take a few degrees iniitial timing out of it. I will coat the pistons and do all sorts of crazy things the regular guy cant or wont do. Just stay at 10.5:1

You're my kind of guy. As soon as I get the cash (a good while) I'll be building a 12:1 351W junkyard wonder. It sure is nice having a full machine shop at school.

there is a huge difference in a 10:1 motor and a 12:1 motor, not referring to power output but in the engine manners and characteristics, I love it

Myshift, a man thet truly knows what he is talking about. Hell if somebody wants to get flat insane, and run around town more power to them. Like you said Shift, the problem is always how hard are you willing to work to keep it running, and hwo much. High comp.= more work in the long run. By the way I think you should build a bigger motor. 8000+ cubes is just too smal. LOLOLOLOL, that thing looks evil.....I like it a lot. My Falcon project will prolly turn out that way.
