does anyone have the 5.0 Haynes Manual?
I searched through it tonight and they only have a discription of repairing the front wheel bearing. My rear bearings have some play. Is it the same proccess to replace the rear bearings?

yeah the rear end doesnt have wheel bearings. you have axle bearings located in the end of the axle housing behind the axle seal. you'll probably need a nice slide hammer to get them out too.

that would take a long *** rod to hit it out from opposite sides.
theres an adapter for a slide hammer that has 2 jaws that will slide in and grab behind the bearing. then you just wack away and itll pop out. thats what i use, but i also spend like 300 dollars for a snap on slide hammer and some other crap. if you got a seal puller you might be able to get it with that and a hammer. but i dunno. and i've never tried hitting em out from opposite sides.

for the front, it is easy, take off the dust cap with a flat screwdriver, and take out the cotter pin, and the cap that holds the bolt in place, loosen the bolt and take off the rotor, grease the new bearings and replace them,
you need a new seal too.
put the seal on after the back bearing.
after its back together tighten the bolt while turning the rotor to feel when it is getting tight, then back it off a half turn and tighten it till it is tight.
for the rear you need to pull the axles and carrier, I use a long prybar to hammer them out from opposite sides, and a big open ended wrench is useful to lever out the old seals.
just remember how far the seals are in there and put them at the same spot.

This is how I did it...took me about 30 minutes
You do NOT have to remove the carrier to get the axle bearing and seals out!
