Default save on gear install

would i save on the gear install if i took the whole differential out and took it to the shop and just had them put the new ring and pinion in???? doesnt the differential just bolt into the rear ??? theres no adjusting when just takin that out and putting it back in is there??

If anything, I think it would be harder for the shop because they would have to mount it on something to work on it.

up here its a additional $100 if its still installed in the car. the reason is they are loosing by tying up a lift for a few hours. there is nothing for you to adjust when you reinstall the rear end in the car other than re bleading the brakes. if you ask me its well worth the additional $100 to not have to pull the rear end out (and wait the extra day to get it in the shop). all shops are different however and its best to ask your buddy what he wants you to do.
