4 to 5 lug conversio
What's it take to convert from 4 lug to 5 lugs? My '91 GT has nasty wheels/tires on it and I want to get some decent wheels in a 5 lug pattern.
Is it a simple swap of the piece the rotors bolt to and the wheel bearings are in? I've gotta get rid of the 215/60r14s, they're killing me!

It only takes money, anywhere from $900.00 if you are ONLY doing the lugs. (that only includes the front rotors) to $2100.00 if you get a nice Baer conversion (and that includes everything, brakes, pads, rotors, rear axles, brake lines, brake master cylinder, etc...you name it it's got it).

....and of course before you bring the car off the jacks or lift it must have the new tires and wheels (that you have already measured and made sure they are not going to touch when you turn the wheel, good clearance and that those wheels accept your rotor size...yaddah yaddah yaddah) and those range from $1000.00 (complete tire/wheel package)to however deep your pockets are.

Hope that helps a bit.....sorry for the bad news about spending $$.

F the motorsport conversion Kit. I have a mustang and the conversion is simple. There are few different ways you can do this. Both are way cheaper than any kit.
#1 Front rotors off a lincoln Mark 7 and axles and drums off of a ford ranger. Make sure you get both driver side axles, the mustang axles are the same length and you need the 2 longer ones from the ranger. I have also heard passenger side axles from an aerostar vam will work too but have never used them.
#2 Same lincoln mark 7 rotors but for the rear salvage a explorer rear disc brake conversion. The rearend is too wide but the kit will bolt onto your rear. or even easier get the rear discs from a 95 or so.
I have the fronts from the MArk 7 and the rear from an explorer. If you have average mechanical ability and some tools its a few days work to get all the bugs out. Dave

just did the swap myself the axles will run you around $35 a piece and the mark 7 rotor are about $60 each. replace all the bearings front and back and check for wear on the axles because you might have to purchase wear bearings.
